Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Luyang { Luyang
Neighbourhood Watch} and Jawatankuasa Tabika Perpaduan Luyang had on 7-9-2013
held a Mid-Autumn Festival (known as Mooncake Festival) celebration at its
centre situated in Taman Jindo.
The aim of having such celebration , besides to
celebrate the traditional Chinese festival, is to foster and strengthen neighbourhood
relation among residents and community leaders in the region; and as a means to
promote integration, unity and harmony among all.
The celebration consists of speeches from invited
guests, children performance, lantern lighting and a serving of sumptuous food.
In his speech, Chairman KRT Luyang Benny Quek stated
that the mooncake celebration is being held on a yearly basis to bind all races
together to celebrate a joyous festival. This is the 10th year that
KRT Luyang is established. During this 10-year period, KRT Luyang had organized
many activities whereby Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn festivals are the 2
activities never missed out.
He thanked National Unity And Integration Department
for rendering support and assistance in all the activities carried out all
along the way. He hopes the new Luyang Police Chief, Sub Inspector Abdul Samad
Bin Sumadi, will even strive more to keep a safer environment. He also hoped
with the assistance and co-operation from Luyang Police, the KRT Luyang
Voluntary Patrol Team will even perform better in their duty to safeguard society.

Sumadi stressed the importance of crime awareness and the measures taken to
prevent such occurrence. He promised to look into security issues discussed
with KRT Luyang during their visit to him a few days ago. He also promised to
render co-operation to KRT Luyang Voluntary Patrol Team during their routine
patrol duty in the Luyang region.
Puan Rosimah Binti Mulshirin, representative from
National Unity And Integration Department, commended that KRT Kuyang is an
active KRT who had continually organized activities to draw the residents
together in achieving integration, unity and harmony. As such, residents and
neighbours are able to strengthen their relation despite the various background
they come from.
Others presented at the celebration were vice-chairman
Wong Kee Yu JP, secretary Chia Miu Lee, organizing chairperson Grace Tai and
the committee.
