Perayaan Tahun Baru Cina 2012 By KRT Luyang
A Chinese New Year Celebration was successfully organized by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Luyang ( Luyang Neighbourhood Watch ) this afternoon, 11-2-2012, at its centre in Taman Jindo.
The celebration was held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive season with the aim to strengthen the neighbourhood relationship of the residents in the community to foster a deeper tie in harmony,integration and unity.
The celebration attracted a sizable crowd with about 100 children including the students from Tabika Perpaduan Luyang which is housed in the Centre. The Tabika is a fully government subsidized kindergarten which has an intake of 29 this year, which is in its 4th year of operation.
The celebration included performance of singing new year songs, ang pow (red pocket) giving to children by YB Melanie Chia & Puan Rosimah Eson, wakil Pengarah Jabatan Perpaduan Negara Dan Integrasi Nasional, and lion dance.
The organizing chairperson, Chia Miu Lee, thanked the presence of the residents such that we are able to integrate with each other to celebrate the occasion.
KRT Luyang is one of the only 2 Chinese Neighbourhood Watch in Sabah region. With this in mind, it has never lagged in organizing activities in relation to Chinese festivals. As such, Chinese New Year celebration and Zhong Qiu (Mid Autumn) festival are the 2 major events/activities sure to be carried out by KRT Luyang, its chairman Benny Quek said.
Benny Quek also urged the residents to participate more in the activities organized by KRT in helping to achieve a harmonized society to live in. He thanked YB Melanie Chia’s support ever since the inception of the KRT Luyang 9 years ago.
